Sales Consultant

Reporting to: Richelle Spooner-Davidson, Retail Director

Liaising with: All other Derwent House team members, suppliers and concession partners.

Derwent House Living Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a new sales consultant.

Derwent House have created a unique retail sales environment and home in Oxfordshire for British craft and makers. They collaborate to source and curate a collection of British handcrafted furniture and homewares for design conscious customers looking to find something beautiful and unique.

The Derwent House team are now looking for a new member to join their team to further develop this rare retail location in Witney. The position is for 4 days a week one of which will be a Saturday – if you have a strong retail/sales background and a passion for all things interiors and British crafted please get in touch. Training and further development will be provided.

Job Summary:

To be an active, enthusiastic and valued member of the Showroom team providing a high level of customer service at all times and enabling sales targets to be reached.

Job responsibilities:

  • Maximise, with the support of your manager and rest of the DHL team all sales opportunities for the showroom.
  • To provide efficient and professional customer service at all times and to contribute towards maintaining a customer friendly environment.
  • Carry out responsibilities /duties to the highest possible standard at all times.
  • Support your immediate team and other stakeholders of the DHL family so that customer orders can be completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an in-depth product knowledge on all design options, fabrics designs including new ranges and product to then able to help customers with their needs.
  • Support and help with merchandising within the showroom and window display.
  • Ensure systems & procedures are adhered to in a professional and timely manner.
  • To help ensure the showroom is maintained correctly and is clean at all times.
  • To ensure any appointments booked for quotes/fittings and deliveries are placed accurately, maintaining contact with customer as required.
  • To be a key holder for the Showroom.
  • To always observe company health and safety policy.
  • To carry out any other duties, which may reasonably be required from time to time.

Skills – essential:

  • Proven ability to sell in the retail interiors/furniture/soft furnishing sector
  • Love and passion for all things interiors
  • Good IT literacy
  • Strong ability to work off own initiative and as part of a small team
  • Proven merchandising and design skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and a willingness to learn

Skills – desired:

  • Interior design experience
  • Graphic design, marketing and social media experience
  • Creative writing/web content copy writing
  • Able to drive
