Jane Crisp
Jane employs traditional steam bending techniques to contemporise the classic trug.
Based in Cambridgeshire, Jane draws creative inspiration from her surroundings, local agriculture and low-tech processes. Her craft is based on traditional boat-builder’s techniques fostered by a passion for maritime heritage whilst living on a narrow boat in Norfolk. She uses ash combined with walnut, cherry and elm together with patinated copper and brass. Jane views steam-bending as a magical process balancing discipline and creativity to create sculptural fluid lines within her pieces.

I like to utilise material’s properties whilst re-inventing ancient crafts to create humble yet useful objects
