How our sofas are made
Bespoke, handcrafted Delcor sofas and armchairs
Delcor hand-make their sofas and armchairs from start to finish in their family workshops in Northumberland. Birch timbers are selected and cut for frame making at their own sawmills. Not only do Delcor make the sofa or armchair hardwood frame using tried and trusted techniques handed down through generations, they also offer peace of mind with a 50 year guarantee on all their frames.
Your Delcor Sofa built to suit you
Every Delcor sofa and armchair is hand-made to your individual order, nothing is off the peg or pre-made. Your chosen sofa can be built to any size you wish either from a range of standard sizes or if you want a seat slightly deeper or the back a little higher, Delcor will happily make it for you.
All padding materials and cushion fillings are of the highest quality. Whether you prefer the natural softness of duck and down, the bounce of extra firm foam or a combination of fibre and duck feather options, Delcor have a fabulous range of cushions to choose from.
Fabrics from Britain’s leading fabric houses
Our experienced team at Derwent House are passionate about fabrics and will offer excellent advice on style, type and colour that will best suit your sofa and your own preferences. We have an amazing collection of over 10,000 fabrics to choose from such well-established British fabric houses as Sanderson’s, GP and J Baker, Linwood, Colefax and Fowler, Romo and Designer’s Guild to name just a few. Whether you are looking for a fabric to suit a period style, a bold contemporary design or an understated textured weave, our team will be delighted to help guide you.
It’s all in the detail
When your fabric reaches the Delcor workshops, it is checked and then carefully cut and sewn ready for upholstering onto your chosen style. Delcor’s skilled upholsterers ensure that patterned fabrics are carefully matched whilst paying attention to the fabric pleating and detail on the scroll of an arm or the careful deep buttoning of an arm or back. Rest assured, your upholstery is in experienced, capable hands.
Finishing touches
The feet and leg options Delcor offer give further scope for customising your sofa. From turned to square tapered legs, to shorter bun or square plinth-like feet, all Delcor’s legs come in a range of warm wood finishes with or without castors. A full range of the wood finishes such as natural, weathered oak or mahogany can be viewed at Derwent House. For a more contemporary feel opt for a metal leg – the choice is yours.
The Mark of Excellence
The Manufacturing Guild Mark has been the mark of excellence, awarded to Britain’s top furniture manufacturers such as Delcor since 1993. Holders are expected to attain the highest standards in all aspects of business, which is determined by a rigorous independent audit on application and thereafter repeated every three years. Unlike other Guild Marks, the Manufacturing Guild Mark is awarded to the actual company and not a specific product or product range. It is also only open to those who manufacture most of their products in the UK.
