BLAM
With combined furniture making expertise of nearly 50 years Harry Williams and Josh Howard-Saunders specialise in handcrafting traditional Windsor chairs with a focus on the detail, durability and fine quality.
BLAM is the latest chapter in a long history of furniture making and partnership between Harry and Josh who were formally directors of the renowned Oxfordshire workshops of Bates & Lambourne, where they both started as apprentices. In 2020 they decided they wanted to continue the work of Bates & Lambourne on a smaller scale, spending more time at the workbench designing and making (and less on the paperwork and distractions of running a large company). They founded BLAM that continues to specialise in traditional Windsor chairs, cabinet making and furniture for churches and many of the colleges of Oxford and Cambridge.
Harry continues a family history of chair-making; his grandfather and great-grandfather were both High Wycombe chair-makers when the town was a national centre of furniture production. Josh has a first-class honours degree in 3D design and combines his work at BLAM with giving talks and writing articles on furniture making.
We are delighted to have the Staple Chair – a contemporary take on a traditional comb-back Windsor chair and The Bootscraper Stool on display at Derwent House for you to view and order.
