Inspired by amongst others, William Morris, Henri Matisse and Mark Rothko, Bethie pursued her childhood love of textiles and making, training in Textiles, Fashion and Fibre at Winchester School of Art. With the help and encouragement of the Prince’s Trust, Bethie Tricks Textiles was established in 2018.

Bethie draws inspiration from wandering the streets and observing everything she sees both closer to home and on her travels.  A trip to Porto in Portugal provided the inspiration for her Sun Soaked Collection whilst the Botanical Collection was inspired by both time in Cape Town and local front gardens near her home in Bristol.

Bethie’s drawings and paintings are scanned, put into repeat digitally and sent to her printers for sampling. Designing a successful repeat pattern can take Bethie anything from 2 hours to 2 years! The result is collections of beautiful, exuberant printed fabrics that work beautifully on headboards, curtains, lampshades, cushions and upholstered onto furniture. We have a selection of Bethie’s cushions on sale at Derwent House and her fabric can be ordered by the metre.
