“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
DERWENT HOUSE at 3 Bridge Street, Witney has long been a destination in Oxfordshire associated with some of the best British handcrafted furniture.
Building on this legacy, the new Derwent House home interiors store is designed to be inspirational and offer alternative, sustainable ways in which to buy unique homewares. We take pride in representing small British businesses and individual makers who demonstrate thoughtful design, hand crafting and respect for the use of materials in their work.
Derwent House endeavours to combat the environmental impact of throw away furniture and homewares. Discover the appeal of handmade ‘one-off’ pieces and find timeless designs together with repurposed and upcycled pieces.
Whilst we are temporarily closed owing to lockdown restrictions, Richelle and Ali are on hand to help you start the process of selecting your new furniture. We firmly believe that when investing in a sofa or armchair that is meant to last for many years, it is important you have the opportunity to view the range of styles that will suit your interior and lifestyle and try for comfort. However, whilst this is not currently possible, we have compiled a useful sofa buying checklist of things to consider when choosing your perfect sofa or armchair. We can also help you explore our range of fabrics from Britain’s leading fabric houses by understanding your requirements, helping you narrow down the options and arrange for cuttings to be sent free of charge to your home.
In the first instance please email at email@example.com and we would be delighted to help you start the process of choosing your furniture by email, telephone or by virtual appointment if you prefer.
You can still shop through our collection service whilst we are closed. Choose from hand-printed, hand-woven and embroidered fabrics made up into cushions and throws. Now more than ever our community of makers need support, browse hand-crafted accessories basketry, unique pottery, lamps and glass on our website and get in touch to arrange collection from the store.
